Strike From the Skies: U.S. Hybrids in Early Access and Our July 4th Event

Heads up—an array of brand-new ships is setting sail on the Legendary seas starting July 1! Our new line of U.S. hybrid battleships from Tier VI to VIII awaits you: Connecticut, Nebraska, and Delaware.

These new ships are equipped with a type of Airstrike armament exclusive to their line: torpedo bombers capable of performing formidable attacks, as they drop fast-moving torpedoes to intercept your opponents! The ships also have powerful high-caliber main guns; strong AA defenses; and a considerable HP pool, compensating for some lack of concealment.

During this update, U.S. Tier VI–VIII hybrids are available in Early Access and can be found in USN Hybrid Battleships Big Crates and standard crates. There are three ways to obtain these crates:

  • Via the Grey Ghost campaign (4x USN Hybrid Battleships crates and 3x USN Hybrid Battleships Big Crates).
  • By completing the missions of the Winged Admiral Calendar (6x USN Hybrid Battleships crates and 2x USN Hybrid Battleships Big Crates).
  • By purchasing the crates in the Store for doubloons or Independium (the event currency).

You can find the full list of crate contents here: https://wowslegends.com/containers/

We've also prepared three Independence Day missions for American ships that require you to helm Connecticut, Nebraska, and Delaware in the later stages. Completing these assignments will earn you "Red, White, and Blue" camouflages and up to 12,000 Independium—a special currency that you can spend on various items in the Store, including unique skins for the new hybrid battleships. And don't miss an additional mission for American ships (it's easier to complete playing battleship Kansas) where you can earn 1,000 more Independium and the Golden Eagle skin for Kansas.

Plus, one more new American ship is ready to hit the seas—Legendary hybrid battleship Louisiana! Unlike the ships in Early Access, you can obtain her in the Store for Independium, which you can obtain via missions and the Waves of Liberty random bundle (for more details on the bundle, check out the end of this article). This isn't your final chance to obtain Louisiana: she will be available again next summer as a free Bureau Project; however, you have the unique opportunity to try her out right now, a year in advance!

Let’s take a closer look at each new ship!

Tier VI Connecticut

Connecticut is a hypothetical battleship that merges concepts from various hybrid ships developed in the United States during the late 1930s. Her main battery, featuring eight 14-inch (356 mm) guns in two turrets, aligns with the Scheme F armament considered for the North Carolina class. The ship's overall design, including a hangar and flight deck at the aft, is inspired by the 1939 flight deck cruiser project.

Tier VII Nebraska

This hypothetical ship is inspired by hybrid battleship projects in the U.S. during the 1930s. Taking North Carolina as a base, we reworked her into a hybrid battleship with a stern-mounted hangar and flight deck, eliminating the rear turret. Nebraska is armed with six 16-inch (406 mm) main guns mounted on two triple-gun turrets.

Tier VIII Delaware

A hypothetical project of transforming the Iowa-class battleships into hybrid battleship-carriers was considered in the 1940s and 50s. This would involve installing a flight deck of at least 350 feet (107 m) in length while maintaining the ship's combat capabilities. To achieve this, the third turret would be moved to the stern, and a twin-gun turret would replace it to balance the weight. Hybrid battleship Delaware represents a potential outcome of this project, which was never actually implemented. She's equipped with six 16-inch (406 mm) main guns in two turrets and two additional main guns on the stern.

Legendary Tier Louisiana

Louisiana is based on one of the options suggested for completing the Montana-class battleships. To create a hybrid battleship-carrier, it would be necessary to add a flight deck of at least 350 feet (107 m) in length, requiring the removal of the third turret. The fourth turret could also be replaced with a quadruple-gun turret to maintain the ship's combat power. As a result, Louisiana is armed with six 16-inch (406 mm) main guns housed in two triple-gun turrets, as well as four additional main guns in a quadruple-gun turret on the stern.
