Through the Spy Glass: Velos

Velos, originally named USS Charrette, was a Fletcher-class destroyer built in Boston in 1942. She served in the Pacific during World War II, where she escorted aircraft carriers, conducted raid operations, and participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After the war, she was placed in reserve until 1959, when she was transferred to Greece and renamed Velos. By 1994, Velos had been transformed into the Anti-Dictatorial Museum. 

In Legends, Velos is a Pan-European Tier VIII Premium destroyer. She’s equipped with four fast-reloading main guns with good traverse speed, torpedoes with a high reload speed, and an enhanced Smoke Generator with increased smoke screen duration. She also boasts high movement speed and decent maneuverability. 

Velos' weak point is her modest amount of HP, making it crucial for her to maintain a low profile and avoid excessive damage. Jerzy Świrski can significantly improve her survivability with his base trait, Hide'n'Seek, which reduces the ship’s sea detectability range by up to 4%. 

For the skill selection: 

• Observant Rage, reducing your main battery reload time by up to 5% and increasing enemy torpedo detectability range by up to 12%; however, this comes at the cost of increasing rudder-shift time by up to 12%. 
• Look at Me Now, further improving your ship’s sea detectability range by up to 6%. 
• Perceptive, reducing incoming damage to your destroyer by up to 3%, increasing enemy torpedo detectability range by up to 5%, and indicating the direction of the closest enemy ship.
• Smoke on the Water, improving smoke screen dispersion and deployment time by up to 8%.
• Unstoppable, improving your engine repair time by up to 15% and providing reduced mobility with a disabled engine/rudder; it also improves Damage Control Party cooldown time by up to 50% when an enemy ship is within a certain range.
