Halloween Is Coming: Get Ready for Crimson Break!

Ahoy, Captains! With October in full swing, it's time to dive into the hauntingly fun content we've prepared for this Halloween!

The new Crimson Break event starts Monday, October 14, and runs for 3 weeks until November 4. But the fun doesn't end there—from November 4 through 18, we're bringing back last year's event, "The Final Frontier," with slightly modified mechanics. During these events, you'll find yourself in spooky Halloween Ports: the Crimson Break-style Port for the first 3 weeks of the update, followed by last year's Port for the remaining 2 weeks (console players will still have the option to switch back to the new Port if they prefer). Also, don’t miss the new Ominous Waters Calendar, available from October 14 through November 18—especially if you favor villains.

Let's explore all the details!

Crimson Break

THE COMBAT

Alas, the story of Transylvania still hasn't received a happy ending, and the heroes who saved it from Rasputin are now captured in a dark dimension by his vengeful wife, Vasilisa Rasputina. Only you can save them—along with a group of unlikely allies united to rescue the prisoners from Vasilisa's grasp: the seasoned sailor, Bjorn Stormbreaker; clever half-demon, Amon Sitri; and dedicated elven healer, Nierdanel Nadar.

Defeat Vasilisa's summoned minions and her own horrendous ship, Behemoth of the Depths, while keeping the prisoners alive. There are four difficulty levels, which determine the map configuration and the number of enemies. You can sail with one of the three heroes, each commanding their own ship and possessing unique skills. Each Commander can be upgraded using Soul Spheres, which you can earn by playing Operation Crimson Break. Watch our video to learn more about the battle rules and skill system.

Halloween '24 Crate

One of the main prizes is the new Halloween '24 crate. You can find a variety of items inside, including a Commander guise or ship skin from the Crimson Break event and German battleship Scharnhorst '43.

Amon Sitri, Bjorn Stormbreaker, and Nierdanel Nadar are Commander guises that have unique voiceovers and also provide bonuses, as described in the guise details.

The Grove Whisperer skin for Z-23 looks exactly like Nierdanel Nadar's nature-inspired ship:

For those who liked Vasilisa Rasputina's ship, Behemoth of the Depths, here's the special skin for Montana:

Scharnhorst '43 is a new German Tier VII battleship. She's one tier higher than the original Scharnhorst and features an improved secondary battery, torpedoes, and HP, as well as the Engine Boost consumable.

Besides the Crimson Break Operation, you can also obtain the Halloween '24 crate through the Nightmare Tides mission, Echo of the Ionian campaign, Ominous Waters Calendar, and the Store.

Shadow Coins

You can also earn Shadow Coins, this event's special currency (don't confuse them with Soul Spheres—those are used for upgrading event Commanders). Here are some items available for purchase with Shadow Coins in the Store:

  • Japanese Tier VII cruiser Blazing Dread—a supernatural ship of the half-demon Amon Sitri, armed with 15 main guns that burn down everything in their path!
  • Ships from previous Halloween events: U.S. Tier VI battleship Leviathan, Soviet Tier V battleship Rasputin, and British Tier V aircraft carrier Ark Royal in a special Halloween skin
  • Commander guises from the previous Halloween event—Mary J. Eastriver, Derrick B. Dew, and Danielle D. Brassfender—all now providing bonuses
  • Unique Halloween skins for Iowa, Hipper, and Hsienyang
  • Halloween crates from '19 to '23

Blazing Dread is a new ship based on Japanese cruiser Suzuya but with slightly altered characteristics: the chance of starting fires with HE shells has been increased from 11% to 15%; HE shell damage reduced from 2,700 to 2,300; ship HP lowered from 38,000 to 34,200; and Smoke Generator added. This is what she looks like:

  • Crimson Break Operation: 3,000 Shadow Coins
  • "Through the Shadows" mission: up to 3,000 Shadow Coins (please note that mission progress resets every Monday)
  • Echo of the Ionian campaign: 1,500 Shadow Coins without the Admiralty Backing and 2,500 more with the Admiralty Backing
  • Ominous Waters Calendar: 1,000 Shadow Coins
  • The Store

Queen Mary

Ominous Waters Calendar

Playing as a villain is always fun! Starting from October 14, complete a 3-week series of daily tasks from the new Ominous Waters Calendar to receive the Vasilisa Rasputina Commander guise. This guise is suitable for U.S.; Soviet; and Italian Commanders and provides a daily bonus: +20% Ship XP when you earn 30 ribbons of any type.

After the initial 3 weeks, you'll have 2 more weeks to complete the Calendar, which runs until November 18. If you miss a day, you'll need to unlock that day to continue—either for free (up to 3 days) or for 250 doubloons per day. You can complete the Calendar by playing Halloween Operations, in addition to the Standard, Arcade, and Versus AI Battles.
