Going Orange: Dutch Cruisers and Commanders Coming to Legends

Big news, Captains: Dutch cruisers are on their way to Legends and will be ready to drop anchor in your Port on March 3! The ships of this line are highly versatile, allowing you to choose your preferred playstyle, and the cherry on top is the powerful Airstrike armament, available from Tier V. The new line is complemented by a scenic new Port for console players—Rotterdam—which will be set as the default Port for the update and remain available for selection afterward.

You can try Tier III–VIII ships in Early Access during this update, while Tier I will be available in the Tech Tree right away, and you can unlock Tier II simply by playing. One more new ship, Legendary Tier cruiser Gouden Leeuw, will be available for Guldens—a special currency you can obtain from multiple sources. Additionally, a new free Dutch Commander, Henk Pröpper, will join your ranks automatically. Another Dutch Commander, Johan Furstner, will be available via the Dutch Legacy Calendar.

Let's dive into the details!

How to Get the New Ships and Skins

Ships in Early Access: Tier IIIVIII

You can find Early Access ships in Dutch Cruiser crates and the Dutch Legends random bundle in the Store, both of which can also drop Premium cruiser De 7 Provinciën. All Early Access ships come with a personal mission that rewards doubloons.

The Dutch Cruiser crate has a chance to drop a Tier IVVII cruiser in Early Access or Premium cruiser De 7 Provinciën. This crate can be obtained in various ways:

  • Oceania's Spectre campaign: 4x crates without the Admiralty Backing and an additional 6x crates with the Admiralty Backing
  • Dutch Legacy Calendar: 9x crates
  • Store: 1x crate for credits and 1x crate for doubloons
  • Other sources: Stay tuned for special events on our social media!

The Dutch Legends random bundle is available in the Store. It offers a chance to get a Tier III–VIII cruiser in Early Access or Tier VII Premium cruiser De 7 Provinciën, along with various in-game items. It can also drop Guldens—a new currency that you can exchange for Royal Netherlands Navy skins and Dutch Legendary Tier cruiser Gouden Leeuw. You can obtain this bundle once to receive a random set of items, or multiple times to boost your chances of collecting everything available.

The first few bundles of the chain feature Royal Netherlands Navy skins for the new Dutch Tier IIVIII cruisers, and the final bundle offers new Legendary Tier cruiser Gouden Leeuw, also outfitted with the new skin.

Here's where you can obtain Guldens:

  • Oceania's Spectre campaign: 1,500 Guldens without the Admiralty Backing and an additional 3,000 Guldens with the Admiralty Backing
  • Dutch Legacy Calendar: 3,000 Guldens
  • Dutch Legends random bundle: 23,500 Guldens—enough to obtain Gouden Leeuw and all Royal Netherlands Navy skins.

Deep Dive Into the New Tech Tree Line

Tier I Gelderland

EN_Gelderland_NL_T1_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

Gelderland boasts excellent concealment, maneuverability, and firing range, combined with a good HP pool. She's armed with guns that can fire both HE and AP shells—a rare feature for her tier—but overall, her artillery isn't that strong.

Tier II Java

EN_PHES103_JAVA_EA_Java_NL_T2_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

Java's strong features include great concealment, a large HP pool, excellent firing range, and high maximum speed. On the other hand, her main guns have a rather modest damage per minute, requiring you to adjust your tactics accordingly.

Tier III De Ruyter

EN_PHES104_DE_RUYTER_EA_De_Ruyter_NL_T3_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

De Ruyter is primarily armed with twin-gun main battery turrets, allowing her to deal solid damage per volley. She has decent concealment and HP, and she's also equipped with Sonar. Due to the ship's poor maneuverability and lack of torpedoes (which are absent for all ships in the line), the best tactic is to avoid closing the distance to enemies and instead attack from afar, taking advantage of her good firing range.

Tier IV Celebes

Compared to De Ruyter, Celebes has an enlarged hull and is one of the most maneuverable ships of her tier. She also boasts a good firing range and decent concealment but is a bit lacking in HP and speed.

Tier V Kijkduin

EN_PHES106_KIJKDUIN_EA_Kijkduin_NL_T5_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

Kijkduin has the same good firing range, visibility, and HP parameters as her lower-tier peers. Most importantly, she's equipped with Airstrike—an automated air squadron that drops projectiles on a designated area. However, the Airstrike armament at this tier doesn't represent its full power, so you'll still need to rely on your main battery guns most of the time.

Tier VI Eendracht

Eendracht is armed with triple-gun main battery turrets in addition to her twin-gun turrets, allowing her to deliver more powerful volleys compared to lower-tier ships of her line. She also has enhanced AA guns and an improved Airstrike with two additional aircraft—eight instead of the six for Kijkduin's variant.

Tier VII Haarlem

EN_PHES108_HAARLEM_EA_Haarlem_NL_T7_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

Haarlem is a full-fledged heavy cruiser with strong armor. While her main guns provide only rather moderate damage output, she shines with her Airstrike. It has one additional charge and an even larger number of aircraft, making it powerful enough to inflict massive damage to a target.

Tier VIII Johan de Witt

Johan de Witt is armed with large 240 mm guns and a powerful Airstrike with a more rapid cooldown and faster aircraft compared to lower tiers. Her strong armor allows her to withstand shell impacts from cruisers and even some battleships with proper positioning. Thanks to excellent concealment and firing range, she excels at striking unsuspecting enemies from afar. The ship's few weaknesses include poor maneuverability and modest speed.

Legendary Tier Gouden Leeuw

EN_PHES110_GOUDEN_LEEUW_EA_Gouden_Leeuw_NL_L_CA_Screenshot_j14884_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_1920x1080_WOWSL.jpg

Gouden Leeuw is the top-tier ship of the new Dutch line and a true heavy cruiser. She's armed with powerful 283 mm guns, similar to those on battleship Scharnhorst. Thanks to her impressive armor, excellent concealment, and rapid-cooling Repair Party, she can withstand even the heaviest enemy fire. She's further complemented by improved Sonar and strong AA defenses. Last but not least, she boasts the most powerful Airstrike among all ships that currently possess this armament. Each of her 12 planes drops six bombs, allowing her to inflict massive damage.

Commander Henk Pröpper

EN_Henk_Pröpper_7.1_Screenshots_for_PR_j14861_1920x1080_WoWSL.jpg

Henk Pröpper was a lieutenant admiral in the Royal Netherlands Navy who played a key role in its revival and modernization.

This Commander will automatically join your ranks on March 3. His versatile skill set will enhance your ships' damage output and survivability. His Terrible Twin base trait increases outgoing damage from shells, torpedoes, and bombs by up to 2% and reduces main battery gun reload time by up to 2%.

Dutch Legacy Calendar

Starting March 3, complete a 3-week series of daily tasks in this new Calendar to earn various rewards, including Dutch Cruiser crates, Guldens, and the final prize—Dutch cruiser Commander Johan Furstner. His skills are a perfect match for the new Dutch cruisers, including those armed with Airstrike. His Minister of the Navy base trait increases damage from any fires your cruiser starts by up to 7%. He also has a unique skill—Risk Theory—that reduces your cruiser's detectability by up to 3%, reduces increased detectability time after shooting by up to 30%, and increases outgoing damage while your cruiser is undetected by up to 5%.
