Introducing the team

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

We've received some questions about whose game it is. Let's make it clear and not leave any room for wild guesses🙂

The game is developed within Wargaming Saint-Petersburg, the studio which gave birth to World of Warships PC and some older titles before, back when it was known as Lesta Studio.

The Legends team core was created long time ago (when the project was internally approved in Wargaming) with several key World of Warships PC developers and several newly hired console specialists. Since then the team has grown independently. It's still very compact compared to WoWS PC, because we can safely steal...uh...borrow...uh...share a lot of 3D assets from the PC game.

As for the community relations, the key responsible figures are Sub_Octavian (me), Philigula (by the way we're both Phils and we're based in St. Pete studio as well - but we're not brothers) and a couple of great guys based in WoWS PC EU and NA teams. They will join us a bit later with community growth to ensure quality sustained communications in major languages and time zones.

I was working on WoWS PC since Alpha, and many players know me very well. I made many mistakes and learned even more lessons, but overall, I hope I did manage to create a friendly, open and appealing dev-player interaction there, which in turn has helped a lot of player-driven changes to happen. Now I am intending to use all of my experience and efforts to make this community the best place for you guys.

Philigula joined my team around a year ago. He's super fluent English speaker, energetic, and he actually likes Legends more than PC version. He also used to troll the rest of my team too much. Hence, he was appointed to do all the work while I relax and write PSAs like this 😛

Both of us are in tight contact with key developers, so rest assured, we won't be just "talking heads" - instead we will be pushing your questions, concerns and argument to the team, and vice versa - so that the game thrives.

Of course there will be more people involved, but it will mostly be on service level, and will depend on work load.

To sum up, the team is compact, experienced, tightly connected, and is willing to provide many great moments for you guys.

I am counting on you as well, because very soon we will start building the base for the future game community together. How would we treat newcomers? Will we be able to foster friendly and interesting discussion? What would people say about Legends "playerbase"? It's all on us. We're excited about this challenge.

By the way, we're going through your Alpha Test applications and there's a lot, no, A LOT of them. This level of engagement from you makes us smile! (Okay, it makes me smile as happily as I can, and probably makes Philigula work overnight and cry, but on average, we're smiling). Thank you!

We will be telling you more about our progress, team and other interesting stuff in the days to come. Follow the news. And if you're interested in such blog-style updates, let us know in the comments and maybe hint at what are you interested in.

Cheers!

I really appreciate how open the WoWs team has been with Developement.  I follow the YouTube channel and the FB Dev page and love how there’s always information we can use.

I would certainly love to see more blogs like this.  I like them when they are updates; where are we? What’s new? What are we thinking about next? Who’s new to the team?

Anyway... Thanks Phil! Also.... Thanks Phil!

Thank you so much for this game. I believe it will be as well as pc version. I'm sure console community will be friendly.

As o console shooter veteran(xbox one s player) it's very complicated to tell how things works on console. Sometimes we see a very nice PC to console ported game, everything looks fine, even mid-high tier graphic cards cant show game that well. But sometimes we see a opposite game and say that, "ooh how this PC game can look so bad on console, even it needs lower expectations then first game"

So at this point, it's very important for us and other people, how this game looks right now. Some picture or a very short video can solve every issues for us. Thank you again.

I’m so excited to see Warships come to the console, I’ve played Tanks on console during the first wave of beta. Then I played Warships Blitz which I love. I can’t wait for this game to be fully released but I hope I can help with either the Alpha or Beta to help make this an awesome experience for my fellow console gamers

As Chris Keeling will tell you I have been waiting for this for ever. At the E3 release of the PC version, he gave me a laser etched bottle and my first question was how long do I have to play on my PS4. He just laughed and said you know I can't tell you.

Now we are finally at the starting gate. So look forward to #TankoTuesdays and now #WarshipWednesdays as soon as we can stream.

Urgent Fury out.

I was a long time WoT console veteran and recently picked up Warships on PC. The transparency and communication from the Warships Dev team is a breath of fresh air, and I'm glad the group developing Legends is drawn from there. I'm genuinely excited to see this project moving forward and can't wait to fire that first salvo! Fair winds and following seas, Phil and Phil.

greetings sub_octavian.

good to see you and "the other phil" on this board.

as a wows player on the EU server, i am very excited to the warships coming to the xbox. my first wargaming game i actually played, was wot on xbox one and it was (and still is) pretty cool. Then "the mighty jingles" (our beloved and feared gnome overlord) addicted me to warships.

3000 matches later, i am excited to see the next step: Xbox one x support, compact controls and a completely new community. I hope, that i will get picked for the alpha. I expect basically the same game but with  console specific quirks and changes. Pretty exciting stuff.

i am looking forward to meet you all ingame and here.

Nice Job guys, can't wait.

I'm in agreement with Brogue, more blogs would be nice. Communication is key which WOTC can lack sometimes.

Welcoming newcomers and fostering friendly and interesting communication with definitely sounds like a good plan...yes, we should do that one first for sure.

Not a PC gamer but as a naval warfare buff, I found myself often watching WoWS vids online, enjoying them, then lamenting the lack of a console version.

I literally yelped when I read about Legends & got my application in immediately.

Thanks, Phils!
