Through the Spy Glass: Tulsa
It was initially planned for Tulsa to be included in the second batch of Oregon City-class heavy cruisers (a modified version of the Baltimore class). This batch should have added six ships to the existing ships of the class—Oregon City, Rochester, Albany, and Northampton (which was converted into a command ship mid-construction). However, with WWII approaching its end, the orders for these ships were canceled on August 12, 1945, and the partially completed ships were scrapped at the Massachusetts and Philadelphia shipyards.
Tulsa is an American Tier VIII Premium cruiser armed with six 8-inch (203 mm) main battery guns, two charges of 3.3 km Sonar with a 98-second of duration, two charges of 9 km Radar with a 35-second duration, and two charges of Repair Party.
With her 5.8 s base reload, her potent AP shells can quickly punish targets that mistakenly expose their broadsides, and she can effectively prevent enemy targets from taking strategic positions around objectives with her detection-focused consumable set.
Our suggestion for this ship’s Commander build focuses on adding to the main battery’s potency while reducing your ship’s concealment to allow you some additional flexibility while navigating the map or selecting your engagements.
We recommend the following build: Norman Scott with his Directed Impact base trait, improving your ship’s main battery shell grouping by up to 5%.
- Beyond Range, improving your main battery range by up to 10%.
- Igniter, improving the fire-starting chances of your HE shells by 3%.
- Punch Through, improving your main battery AP shell damage by up to 10% and AP shell penetration multiplier by up to 6%.
- Fixated, improving your main battery shell grouping and accuracy by up to 5%.
- Refill Station, improving your main battery reload time by up to 10%. If you’re within proximity of an ally, further increases your main battery range by up to 10%.
Regarding Inspirations, you should try:
- Gunichi Mikawa to improve your detectability by up to 6%.
- Günther Lütjens to improve your main gun AP shell damage by up to 5%.
