January Update: Anchors Up! 

Ahoy, Captains! The first update of the year is arriving very soon, so let's take a look at the fresh content it brings! 

Here's what we've prepared this time: 

Born of Battle Campaign 

The new Born of Battle campaign will be available from January 19 to February 23. Complete it with an active Admiralty Backing to receive British Tier VIII Premium destroyer Somme and a ton of other rewards. Somme is a Battle-class destroyer with a big emphasis on torpedo firepower, featuring stealthy long-range torpedoes and Torpedo Reload Booster with unlimited charges. Although the torpedo damage is not that high, you can really spam enemies with torpedoes thanks to the Torpedo Reload Booster cooldown time being the same as the torpedo reload time. Somme is also armed with good guns, allowing for a versatile playstyle.  

To get your hands on Somme, complete the campaign's 100 milestones within 5 weeks. During this update, you'll also be able to complete campaign tasks in War Tales, in addition to Standard, Arcade, and Versus AI Battles. As usual, the catch-up mechanic will be available for those who miss challenges. Below is the list of all campaign rewards, with and without the Admiralty Backing:

Kremlin Marathon Starts 

We're launching a new marathon—this time, the final reward is Soviet Legendary Tier battleship Kremlin! To earn the ship, collect Ship Parts across three updates, starting with this one. During the marathon's first stage, which runs from January 19 to February 23, you can get Ship Parts from the Born of Battle campaign, Weekly Assignments, and as a bonus with new battleship skins from the French Navy event. We'll share the full details in tomorrow's article! 

Azur Lane: Wave 7

Five new Azur Lane Commanders are arriving in Legends—Vittorio Veneto, Ägir, Tallinn, Massachusetts, and Z24—along with four new ships and one special skin. Don't miss them in the upcoming update! Plus, complete a dedicated mission to earn Siren camouflages and a new crate that can drop an Azur Lane Wave VII Commander, ship, or skin!

French Navy Event: New Skins, Calendar, and Commander 

Vive la France! Meet new gorgeous skins for French battleships Normandie, Lyon, Richelieu, Alsace, Bourgogne, Strasbourg, and Flandre! Each skin comes with bonus Ship Parts, which will help you progress through the Kremlin marathon. You can find the new skins individually in the Store or in the French Battleship crate, which can also drop one of the two Premium battleships—Strasbourg or Flandre. Several French Battleship crates are available for free through the campaign, Calendar, and the Mer de Courage mission.

Also, complete the 3-week Keeper of Liberty Calendar to receive the Marianne guise for French Commanders. She features a unique French voiceover, effects in the colors of the French flag, and a daily bonus of +30% Global XP when you hit enemies 45 times with your main battery guns in a single battle. 

And don't miss one more activity—the Mer de Courage mission—which will reward you with new French Commander Charles Bléry. He's a perfect fit for traditional French destroyers, including new Marceau. Here are his unique features: 

• Base trait: Officier de Tir, improving your destroyer main battery—range by up to 3% and damage against destroyers by up to 4%.
• Unique skill: Strong Diplomacy, increasing destroyer main battery traverse speed by up to 3.2°/s and Main Battery Reload Booster duration by up to 22.5%. 

Lunar New Year: Discounts in the Store and a Special Mission 

Visit the Store from February 9 to 23 to find plenty of content inspired by Lunar New Year: ships, skins, and Commander guises at up to 40% off. You can also claim a free coupon that will give you a 2,500-doublon compensation for purchasing select Pan-Asian and Japanese Premium ships. 

And don't forget to complete a special mission to receive a Lunar New Year '25 crate, which can drop a Lunar New Year-themed item. You'll also receive a coupon that will let you obtain one of the six Lunar New Year skins for only 1 doubloon.

New Bureau Project: Gouden Leeuw 

Here she is—Dutch Legendary Tier cruiser Gouden Leeuw, available as a Bureau Project starting January 19! This heavy cruiser is armed with powerful 283 mm guns and a massive Airstrike that deals huge damage, with 12 planes dropping six bombs each. Gouden Leeuw can withstand even the heaviest enemy fire thanks to her impressive armor, excellent concealment, and Repair Party with a rapid cooldown. 

Fleet Cup: Season 6 

Another season of Fleet Cup is coming! Team up with other players in Fleet Divisions and win your way through four tournament stages. Only Tier VII Tech Tree ships can participate this season. Unlike previous seasons, which were held only on weekends throughout the update, this one also includes Fridays. 

Ranked Battles: Seasons 93–94 

Prepare for two new seasons of Ranked Battles, featuring three-player teams and Tier VI and VII ships (excluding aircraft carriers). Climbing through the ranks will bring you various rewards like Steel, crates, camouflages, and Commander Progression Items. 

• Season 93: January 27 – February 2; only Tier VI ships  
• Season 94: February 10–16; only Tier VII ships, no aircraft carriers 

Brawl: Seasons 35–36 

And more Brawl seasons are arriving, with 3v3 battles on low-tier cruisers and battleships. To make sailing low-tier ships more fun, we'll significantly buff them by improving their main battery reload time, damage, and traverse speed, as well as consumable reload time and ship speed. The rewards include crates, camouflages, Rare Boosters, and more. 

• Season 35: January 29 – February 2; only Tier II cruisers 
• Season 36: February 12–16; only Tier III battleships 

Full Release of the Japanese Hybrid Battleship Line 

The Japanese hybrid battleship line is now fully available in the Tech Tree: Tier VI Ise, Tier VII Suwo, and Tier VIII Dewa. Each of them combines battleship firepower with torpedo bombers capable of executing powerful Airstrikes. Research these new ships via the Tech Tree and experiment with your playstyle! 

New Modifications

In the upcoming update, we're adding two completely new modifications: 

• Chromium Plated Barrels: Improve main battery dispersion by 5%. Can be installed in Slot 3 on all ships of Tier VI and higher, as well as on several lower-tier ships: Nassau, Bellerophon, Turenne, Arkansas, and Iwaki. 
• Supercharges: Improve AP shell and bomb penetration by 10% and increase main battery range by 5% at the cost of shell grouping worsening by 5%. Can be installed in Slot 2 on all British and Commonwealth ships of Tier V and higher and Tier III battleship Bellerophon. 

War Tales 3 Continues 

Good news: War Tales will stay for one more update! The two new War Tales introduced in the Christmas update, along with all the previous ones, will be available until February 23.

Friends System on Mobile

Mobile players can now also add friends, similar to console players, making it easier to quickly form Divisions with friends on any platform.

Improvements and Bug Fixes 

Console 

• Fixed an issue where Rodney's camera briefly moved to the ship's right side when switching to turret view. 
• Fixed a bug that caused Defence's third-person camera to be too close to the ship. 

Mobile

• Fixed a bug where the bundle purchase pop-up didn't close after a single tap.
