Captains! Below you'll find a quick overview of what the game is like and what you can expect from it, please take some time to familiarize yourself with it before posting further questions. Thank you! General Q. What is World of Warships: Legends? Engage in naval battles while commanding destroyers, cruisers and battleships all the while balancing your firepower, maneuverability and ability to plan ahead. You will move through tiers of ships trying out various legendary vehicles in the process and training your commanders to best accommodate available sets of weaponry and hull characteristics. Choose from two types of shells, launch torpedoes and outsmart your opponents. If you like blunt force, several ships will cater to your interests as well, be it destroyers that can stealthily approach the enemies or battleships with high risk/high reward salvos, which take a long time to reload, but wreak havoc if targeted well. Cruisers are the jacks of all trades that will be appreciated by players looking for a middle ground. Show their utmost skill and willpower in Standard battles or improve against AI opponents in PvE mode. Q. Is this game a port of the PC version? Simply put, no. We're creating a native console experience pretty much from scratch while sourcing content and resources from the PC version, which is of course, our main inspiration. This does streamline our development process quite a bit, since we can focus on delivering the best naval combat gameplay available within the console realm. Q.How realistic is World of Warships: Legends? WoWs:Legends is not exactly a hardcore simulator. We made sure to combine action, arcade and believable physics to make it a fun and engaging game, that can entertain you for either 15 minutes or several hours at a time. The battles are dynamic and competitive, while the ships are all based on real prototypes. Q. What do I need to start playing World of Warships: Legends? Just enter the code that you've received in the mail in your Xbox Live/Playstation Network account and launch the game at a provided time slot. You'll be able to share your experiences with other testers and help us rid the game of bugs through the use of dedicated Forum and Discord server and of course give us the invaluable feedback that will allow us to create the best possible experience. When it comes to disk space, you will need about 30 GB of it for either console. Gameplay Q. What choice of warships will we have? As described above, there are 3 classes - swift destroyers, most of which represent "glass cannon" philosophy, possessing lower HP pools, but armed with deadly torpedoes and being able to launch surprise attacks. Cruisers are better armored and armed and are well-rounded fighters. Battleships are basically floating fortresses that can dispose of smaller adversaries in a single shot, yet should you miss, it's going to be a long time until you can fire again, yet the armor and hit point distribution among the classes allow battleships to be sturdy and show longevity in the battles. When it comes to nations, we currently have 10 represented in the game. Major ones are: Japan, USA, USSR, Germany, Britain and France. There are also selected vehicles available for the Pan-Asian, Polish, Italian and Commonwealth navies. The number of ships in the game is always growing and you should be able to find something suitable to your playstyle pretty easily. At the alpha stage you'll be able to try out the Japanese and American ships. Q. PC version has aircraft carriers as the fourth class, why don't we have them here? Aircraft carriers are currently preparing to go through an overhaul which will change their gameplay completely. To avoid any confusion with switching styles we plan to add the carriers complete with their new gameplay somewhere in 2019. Q. What is the progression like? There are 7 tiers of ships in total and you begin at tier I with late XIX to early XX century cruisers. Vehicle tiers can be separated in two distinct timelines - tiers I-IV belong to the "dreadnought era", while everything from tier V and above is grouping the WWII ships. After playing several battles with them and getting acquainted with controls and basic mechanics, you'll move over to tier II cruisers, that are faster, better armed, more sturdy and have a choice of armament (high-explosive or armor-piercing shells). From there you'll be able to branch out into the destroyers which are all about stealth and high risk-high reward gameplay. Tier III will allow you to try out the battleships which bring huge salvos and armor, yet lack in maneuverability. Q. Considering the difference in the number of tiers, is the match maker any different? Yes, that had to be changed as well, or match maker works using the +1/-1 principle. Q. What is key for my success as a player in Legends? That depends on what you define as success If you're in any way interested in naval warfare, you're very likely in for some good time. When it comes to skills, they will largely depend on which class you prefer, but tactical prowess, shooting skills and reaction time, in that order, will make you a great ship commander in Legends. And let us stress tactics again, sometimes you'll be able to outsmart your opponents even if they are better shots. Q. Can I play with my friends? Certainly! You'll be able to form divisions with your friends, so you can coordinate your actions and simply have fun together. Q. How long does a typical battle last? The upper limit for a battle in WoWs: Legends is 15 minutes, and the average time is going to be around 9 minutes. Of course, a lot depends on players' skill level, exact team compositions and other factors. Maps and locations Q. What are the maps like in WoWs: Legends? Maps are square with sizes range from 24x24 km to 18X18 km. Smaller maps are usually reserved for lower tiers, bigger - for higher. Q. Are there different themes to the maps? The maps are quite different both in size and island distribution. You will see all kinds of landscapes: from the icebergs of Arctic to the tropics of southeast Asia. Development Q. How long do you plan to keep the game in alpha testing stage? We're aiming at 2 months or more, depending on how well it goes and how much we can polish the game and then move over to closed and then open beta. Q. Which languages will be available at launch? Alpha test will be conducted with English clients, while open stages will see the arrival of German, Russian and Japanese localizations as well. Platform subscriptions Q. Will I need a subscription on my console to play Legends? For Xbox you will need a Live Gold subscription, and when it comes to Playstation, no subscription is required. Correlation with other Wargaming titles Q. Will I be able to move my progress over from WoWs PC? Unfortunately, no. The progression systems are not exactly mirroring each other, so no transfer of assets or progress will be possible. Q. Will the Premium time be shared with World of Tanks console? Legends will have separate premium time from World of Tanks console. Q. Will Xbox and PS4 users be able to play together? No, but the playerbases should be enough for both consoles to satisfy your naval action cravings! Q. Will there be crossplay with WoWs PC? Since the games are quite different no such feature can be implemented. Q. Will I be able to use my pre-existing WG account? The account you will use for each platform will be that platform account, as in - Xbox gamertag or PSN ID.

Greetings to you, aspiring commanders and sea dogs! With World of Warships Legends Alpha impending, we have thought it would be a good idea to shed some light on the design decisions, or rather approach, that we are taking with WoWs:L. This also serves as opportunity to introduce myself to you, so that you know whom to direct your constructive and polite feedback to when your favourite ship gets nerfed.:) I am AINTD and I am the Lead Designer here at WoWs:L, working diligently to bring the best World of Warships experience on consoles possible. I have had a fair share of console development experience in the past and it is my intention to put it to good use in WoWs:L. Tons of design or design-related decisions need to be made on daily basis on a title as big as World of Warships. A lot of them are fun to work on, some are a tad tedious, and some are downright annoying. It is our job, however, to answer all the questions and solve all the issues we encounter during development, so that when you get your hands on the game, you actually enjoy playing it and have a good time. Many of you may be wondering whether WOWL is "just a port" of the PC version of the game. Short answer is "No, it is not just a port". While we are borrowing existing assets as well as aiming to preserve core of the World of Warships experience that makes it so engaging, we also subject all existing features to scrutiny, never shying away from updating a feature that could use it. It is not time nor place to get into specifics, but I do want to outline some fundamental ideas behind our approach. First thing is first: a gaming console is an entirely different to PC platform, with its strengths and weaknesses spanning across hardware, networking and last, but not least, input method. World of Warships relies heavily on keyboard+mouse scheme that does not really exist on consoles, so our first goal was to make sure that all mechanics translate well to controller. We have made great strides towards achieving comfortable controls and this is one of the things I would really appreciate your feedback on during the upcoming Alpha. After all, most amazing graphics and smartest mechanics in the world will be of little consequence, if you are constantly struggling with the controls. A console controller works rather differently to a mouse. Some actions are more intuitive and easier to execute, while other (e.g. aiming) require substantial updates. It is not a good thing or a bad thing - it is just different. Complementing core gameplay is our meta-game and it also is getting meaningful updates. These span progression system, port UI, social and many other features. We see WoWs:L as a great opportunity to refresh existing mechanics without having to tiptoe around status quo. We aim to make the experience more dynamic, varied and streamlined (do not confuse with "dumbed down"). At the same time, we want to remove/change some of the features that, we believe, would thwart our players. This is both challenging and exciting times for us and I hope that you - our audience, people who we are doing this for and whose satisfaction we take to heart - will join the ride and become part of the experience of bringing World of Warships to consoles. There are many other things that I would be eager to discuss, but all in due time. For now I encourage you all to take part in Alpha, play the game, scrutinize it, talk to us about it - we listen! Happy sailing!

Apparently my parents' German Shepard gets really scared of thunder and she has to hold my dad's hand.

I did have to chase her down to get the fork away. Couldn't resist getting the picture first. She's pretty agile with anything she steals. Lol.

Just remember folks, Alpha Testing isn't just an excuse to play the game early...its for us to influence and test out the game as it develops prior to release. I really hope Wargaming will listen and consider the feedback they'll be given :) That said, I cannot wait to start delivering packages of freedom and democracy across the map 😁

My guess is that a number of the paper proposals won't make it into Legends, and that's fine. As long as we have a robust and entertaining tech tree that makes sense, it will work.
