yeah … … but BB players, who sail in straight lines at tier 10 are hardly a good example. Same BB players also cry, that BB AP can citadel them and that cruisers HE is too powerful. Fires and flooding are the worst and no ship in the game should have torpedoes. wargaming in fact nerfed BBs, so they don't deal OP damage with their AP against cruisers. balancing is not subjective - it can be measured. look at the tier ten russian DD khabarovsk. It was considered a very strong DD at the bottom of its power level. The conqueror was nerfed several times since release (latest nerf was the introduction of an over the waterline citadel). Hindenburg first got the 1/4 penetration on its HE as a buff and later got its rate of fire reduced. Now, it got an additional heal, because the latest alterations to shell ballistics made ship more vulnerable. Balancing is an ongoing series of alterations and adjustments. the skill tree from wows PC is a mess right now with some skills being universally op, while others are nearly useless or only usable in fun speccs. because i do follow wows on PC, i know where the problems with the skill trees are and how important it is to make certain skills not available in certain combinations with others.

excellent. that's the way to go. I gave feedback as well. five rows with three usable skills each should be more than enough, if you have enough captains for additional variety. If done correctly, you can have a system, that has actually more options than the PC version, while being sleek and preventing cookie cutters. We have to keep in mind, that some ship lines are not good for certain roles. Example: you will never turn japanese torpedo boats into a gunboat but you might enable different torpedo and scouting styles. i will put together a forum thread with a closer look at Captain skills, weak points and things that should be addressed to enable different speccs with the same Captain. only some ideas that are flying around in my head.

Ive given my feedback in the captains thread. And I've wrote my feedback in the German feedback thread since it is easier to write in german for me. Now I'm waiting at response from WG (which might take a while because of obvious reasons) or the next patches so I can give additional feedback. I'm not just sitting here and call everything stupid or shit. I try to tell WG what I like and what I don't like. I also try to figure out how I would like it better. But I saw what happened to WOT and I don't want to see that happen again.

then give feedback. what captains are not suitable for your ships and playstyle? maybe we can figure something out? Take a look at the skills or maybe find a Captain who has better skill. like i said. The dev team made it very clear, that they don't want to provide perfect captains - only captains, that are better suited for certain ships and playstyles. keep in mind - if we get too much skills per row and too many rows, captains become more alike and the distinctive characteristics begin to vanish. 15 good skills to chose from is a good amount. And remember - every Captain has one additional skill. Making it 6 skills per Captain. btw. "dumbed down" would be a system, where there were captains with preset skills - without any possibility to customize them.

The thing that I like about ships over tanks is the fluidity of the game play. Depending on your ship class, you really have to plan out what your moves are ahead of time and keep track of multiple friendlies and enemy ships simultaneously. Tanks is a lot more of 1v1 side scraping, terrain abusing, etc...

You do know the point of betas is to test right? WOTC did the same thing to its testers, as with almost all games with alpha/beta testing.
